count number of instances in last 30 days

I'm wondering if any mysql masters out there can help me with this.

I'm trying to query the number of instances that the same value occur in a field in the last 30 days.  Say that my field is called "clli"

 

How would I do that?

 

$query = "SELECT clli FROM mytable";
$result = mysql_query($query);
while ( $row = mysql_fetch_array($result))
{
extract($row);
$clli[] = $clli;
}
$output = array_count_values($clli);

 

that's what I think it should be but I don't know the rest.  I'm very new to mySQL.
