What is a .gdf file and what program do I use to open or create one? I know it contains font information but I can't seem to find out what I can use to view it.

I ask because I found it in a piece of code I was picking through:
<?php
header("Content-type: image/png");
$im = imagecreatetruecolor(50, 20);
$black = imagecolorallocate($im, 0, 0, 0);
$white = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 255, 255);
imagefilledrectangle($im, 0, 0, 49, 19, $white);
$font = imageloadfont("04b.gdf");
imagestring($im, $font, 0, 0, "Hello", $black);
imagepng($im);
?>
Type "ttf2gdf" into your favourite search engine, thats the only bit of software I could find for converting true type fonts into GD compatible fonts.

If you are asking this because you want to use a true type font in an image creation script, you can use TTF's with the function imagettftext()
