Maybe if you explained what you were trying to accomplish we coul dbe more helpful - guessing at what you want to do means we will probably be a million miles off the mark... MadTechie Posted May 24, 2007 Share Posted May 24, 2007 File groups are just a group of users on the unix system.. each group can have a different set of access to each area of the file system.. mainly for securitys reasons.. one use would be if your programs need to check the users access rights without needing a second login (which is a nightmare to manage) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
