Help with quotes

Here is what I'm attempting

fwrite($fh, 'Extra Notes: <input class="text" name="notes" type="text" value=');
fwrite($fh, $_REQUEST['notes'].'><br><input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"></form>');

The problem is when it will not put quotes around the notes variable... I need them to surround the notes because its has spaces and will only display the first word in the text field if there are no quotes around it.

Try htmlentities($_REQUEST['notes']); when you're writing it.

 

htmlentities takes anything like < and converts it to it's html equivalent (< in this case).

So, put some quotes before and after the variable.

 

fwrite($fh, 'Extra Notes: <input class="text" name="notes" type="text" value="');
fwrite($fh, $_REQUEST['notes'].'"><br><input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"></form>');

Quite the simple fix, thanks... was putting quotation marks in the wrong spot

will work

 

but i would suggest

$note = htmlspecialchars($_REQUEST['notes']);
fwrite($fh, 'Extra Notes: <input class="text" name="notes" type="text" value="'.$note.'">');
fwrite($fh, '<input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"></form>');
?>
