applying style to disabled element

I am trying to create a curved edge tab using a bullet(•). When I disable the tab, I want to disable the element holding the bullet, but when I do that..it displaces the bullet as shown in the figure attached.tab-for-freaks.gif. what can be done to remove that whitespace?
