first of all link to the source is incorrect.

 

got source here http://snaps.php.net/php5.2-200706182030.tar.gz

 

doing tar and getting error

 

 

[root@###### tmp]# tar xvpf php5.2-200706152230.tar.bz2 i also downloaded  php5.2-200706152230.tar.gz (gives me same error)

Looks to me like your download was incomplete, or somehow malformed.

 

PS: A snapshot is of php is made every half hour or so I think, so of course my link would become invalid. My point, download the source and read the file called README.
