oceans Posted July 2, 2007 Share Posted July 2, 2007 Dear People, Does any one know how to use SSH, I was advised to down load putty in my windows XP PC. I did, and I gave the user & password correctly. But the window went away after receiving the credentials, and there is nothing for me to work on the screen, I am trying to access my root in my web server. But if I gave the wrong combination of user & password, the putty complains (this is correct!). I admit I am using SSH for the first time, can any one guide me on how should I be going about this situation, thanks. The web server provider said, my SSH account is OK for connection and work. oceans Posted July 2, 2007 Author Share Posted July 2, 2007 Dear Thorpe, I get to see the Window like box on startnig the PUTTY.EXE, in there I input the ip address I am given, than a Dos like screen comes up, it asks for "login as" then "password", once over, for a fraction of a second this black screen stays and vanishes! But if I provide incorrect conbination of password and login id, the black screen stays and says they are incorrect, got i got to do any setting to putty, as for port i think it is fine (windows did not complaint).
