Dear People,

Does any one know how to use SSH, I was advised to down load putty in my windows XP PC. I did, and I gave the user & password correctly. But the window went away after receiving the credentials, and there is nothing for me to work on the screen, I am trying to access my root in my web server.

But if I gave the wrong combination of user & password, the putty complains (this is correct!).

I admit I am using SSH for the first time, can any one guide me on how should I be going about this situation, thanks.

The web server provider said, my SSH account is OK for connection and work.

Dear Thorpe,

I get to see the Window like box on startnig the PUTTY.EXE, in there I input the ip address I am given,

than a Dos like screen comes up, it asks for "login as" then "password", once over, for a fraction of a second this black screen stays and vanishes!

But if I provide incorrect conbination of password and login id, the black screen stays and says they are incorrect, got i got to do any setting to putty, as for port i think it is fine (windows did not complaint).
