Think about how you will input events, think about how you will display events (monthly, weekly, daily, yearly, Tabular or List) Think about the mysql needed for it (a Date for each (think of a date storage that stores the most information in the least amount of data (i.e. a unix timestamp that gives you day, month,year,hour,minuite,second in one number).  Think about what you neeed to echo out a month's calendar also because that can be tricky unless you use the date function properly
