Use a third-party to handle it and avoid all the problems associated with security yourself.  People are far more likely to use credit cards with a trusted system. I wouldn't give you my cc number. I would give it to Authorize.net

 

PayPal, 2CheckOut, and even Google have secure payment gateways.
