Update iind table select unique record from ist table?

Hi everyone,

 

I got a table where i am recording, car service history with the following field, my insert query works fine.

 

table2: service_log

id autoincrement

car_id int

service_id smallint

service_description varchar

 

table2: service_summary

 

id autoincrement

car_id

service_id

service_description

 

i was able to insert record in my second table but not able to achieve something like only insert if new records are found and delete those which not exist in the first table.

 

INSERT INTO service_summary
        SELECT DISTINCT car_id,min(service_id),service_description FROM service_log;
