jenniferG Posted August 21, 2007 Share Posted August 21, 2007 we needf a string for time in date:time and find that $NOWDATE=strftime('%Y%m%d%H%M%S'); works just fine. We are doing this on a host in California and we are in Dallas. strftime picks up time perfectly, but we want to deploy this sofware at a site in Los Angeles. The time is used as a column in mysql and there are several hundered rows in the table which is to be a a sortable column. So, how do we set it up and set the time zone for CDT so that a client in Los Angeles can time stamp a record and have it seamless and sortable with the records already loaded in the table from Dallas?. AndyB Posted August 21, 2007 Share Posted August 21, 2007 It might be worth thinking of changing the database times to GMT (because it's obviously timezone-independent) and applying an offset when displaying times for the different site locations/server locations.
