metalmachine
Hey guys. Im semi new at this. Im running Apache 2.2.4 on Vista Ult. X64. I setup a DNS using no-ip.com. The loopback addy works. But when I type in the DNS name or ip address, the page will not load. Now from my knowledge Im assuming that it is a problem with the no-ip address. But I updated it with my current ip and I dont know what else to do. I am behind a Linksys router and Westell DSL modem. I did however use port scanner and confirmed that 80 is open on both. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
trq
Have you forwarded port 80 through your router to the server? Also, where are you trying to access the server from? If your still within the same LAN it will not work.
metalmachine
Im running the server off of my own comp. So had a friend try to access it from the outside and the page wouldn't load up. Im going to make sure the router is forwarding 80 to me.
trq
You best also make sure your firewall allows said connection.
metalmachine
Checked that firewall was allowing everything for Apache and I made a separate rule for port 80 TCP/UDP/ I had the router forward port 80 to my pc. I'm so frustrated with this. lol
trq
Sorry, I'm not sure theres much more I can suggest. A few people have had simular issues lately, I never personally have. Now from my knowledge Im assuming that it is a problem with the no-ip address. But I updated it with my current ip and I dont know what else to do. How exactly are you finding out what your current address is?
metalmachine
There is a program that you download at no-ip.com that automatically updates the DNS entry. Yeah Im at a loss.
