nick_whitmarsh
Ok here goes, I am new in understanding how to share my apache to the world wide web. I am still developing my website with two other guys. I have a spare machine, with Vista instaled and I have WAMP set up also and is working fine. Is there someone out there how could give me some steps on how I can make my apache viable too my two mates or give me a link which could be easy to follow. Any help is much apreciated. trq
Its quite easy. Firstly, if you access the internet via a router you will need to login to the routers admin panel and forward port 80 to the machine hosting Apache. Next, check your firewall is not blocking connections to port 80. And thirdly (optional) go to a service like http://dyndns.org and setup yourself a free dns account and install the relevent software. This enables visitors to get to your site via http://yourdomain.dyndns.org instead of via an ip. Also, if you have a dynamic ip (as most people do) this will keep track of it for you.
