I want to show a list of items from my dbase, and...

<?php

$query = mysql_query("SELECT * from table WHERE id = '$id' ");
$count_rows = mysql_count_num_rows($query);

while(($row = mysql_fetch_array($query)&&($x=1;$x<$count_rows;$x++)){

echo $x . $row['shoes'];

$x++

}

?>

You see what I am trying to do, I want for each item that is displayed has a number like an html list...

ex:

1. item
2. item

add new row

3. item

....etc

<?php
		$counter = 1;
		$q = mysql_query("SELECT id, title FROM news ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 5");
		echo "<ol class=\"blah\">";
		while($row = mysql_fetch_array($q))
		{
		    $title = htmlentities($row['title']);
		    echo "<li><a href='/news/".$counter."'>".$title."</a></li>";
		    $counter++;
		}
		echo"</ol>";
	    ?>
