[SOLVED] How to validate positive numbers from 1 onwards and select last_insert_ID()?

Recommended Posts

here are couple of questions with my sql statement:

1. I wish to check whether the return id values is a number from 1 onwards. but is_Numeric can also make 0 as a valid number.

2. collect the last_insertID(); and insert into models table.

Here is my code:

Step One:  to check the
if (is_Numeric($make_exist))
/* Insert new make*/
$q1 = "insert into make (make, description) VALUES ('$fm', '$fdes')";

/*Step II*/
$sql = "select LAST_INSERT_ID() from make";
$my_rid = mysql_query($sql);

$q1 = "insert into model (make_id, model) VALUES ('$my_rid', '$fmodel')";

Please advise.

Thanks

if (!is_Numeric($make_exist) || ($make_exist == '0'))
{
//Show an error
} else {
$q1 = "insert into make (make, description) VALUES ('$fm', '$fdes')";

$sql = "select LAST_INSERT_ID() from make";
$my_rid = mysql_query($sql);

$q1 = "insert into model (make_id, model) VALUES ('$my_rid', '$fmodel')";
}
