please familiarise yourself with the boards here before posting - the descriptions on the main page should be enough for you to pick the best place to post ;)

There are plenty of free hosting sites out there. Just search google for free hosting. I would suggest buying hosting for cheaply and talking to the host and having him educate you. The first time I bought hosting from a person they were more than willing to explain due to the fact that you are a paying customer. Look around and read some things you will get the jist of it.

Domain name is the actual registration of the name itself.  This basically says the name is yours and no one else can use it.  You need to pay an annual fee (normally UNDER $10/yr) for this name.  You cannot actually BUY a name for life and will always continue to have to pay (or maybe your hosting company will pay for it if you sign up with them).  Again this is a very minimal charge.

Hosting is the actual handling of files/storage of e-mail etc.  There are plenty of free ones out there but often their functionality is limited.  I've used netlinkinfo.com before (for a pay site) and been pretty happy with their pricing/control panel/support.  There are hundreds of hosting companies out there so take a look and you will find thousands of options.

This thread is more than a year old. Please don't revive it unless you have something important to add.
