[SOLVED] Finding todays date

I need some help

 

I have a simple little calendar. It works by adding 1 to a counter while the counter number is <= to the number of days in the month.

 

I have some code that works out todays date minus the 0 for the dates 01 - 09 .

 

How would i go about highlighting the current day in red?

Why reinvent the wheel. When manipulating dates, I always use a combination of the date() and strtotime() functions.

This is what I did to make it bold
