Trium918
What does the error log show? Thanks for the reply. First I would to say that I have an older version of MySQL 3.23 which is old but I have no problem installing it. It works. Also, I have 4.0 and it worked as well but I no longer have access to it. I am having a hard time getting MySQL 5.1.22-rc-community started. Note: I have been at this for about 3 days now. I have installed and uninstall many times already. I am running Windows XP home edition. Trying to install as a Windows service. Here is the error log: C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner>net start mysql The MySQL service is starting. The MySQL service could not be started. A system error has occurred. System error 1067 has occurred. The process terminated unexpectedly. fenway
That doesn't look like the error log file, that looks like a screenshot of the running process. And what's wrong with innodb? Trium918
Why was innodb not available? I have no idea! Sorry, but I really need some help getting this thing installed. This is my fifth day trying to get this thing working. I stated earlier that I just installed Wamp and I haven't done anything to it. Apache and PHP is working fine with out having any configuration. Here is the path of all the InnoDB files that were created upon installation. C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.0.45\data Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/83044-solved-i-am-having-problems-getting-mysql-to-start/#findComment-424101 Share on other sites
Trium918
Why was innodb not available? I tried this from the my.ini file. but It is commented out. Set to default. #skip-innodb. # Use this option if you have a MySQL server with InnoDB support enabled # but you do not plan to use it. This will save memory and disk space # and speed up some things. skip-innodb 071226 12:32:33 [ERROR] Default storage engine (InnoDB) is not available 071226 12:32:33 [ERROR] Aborting Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/83044-solved-i-am-having-problems-getting-mysql-to-start/#findComment-424111 Share on other sites

Trium918
And what you posted above is the error log? Did you comment out skip-innodb? I am starting from the beginning. This would include reinstalling Windows XP. Re-formating the partition. I am now about to install Wamp. Note: I have already re-formatted the partition. Any ideas about how to get MySQL up and running? Trium918
I be damn!!! MySQL is up and running. I figured that it had something to do with the previous MySQL installations. I thought that I uninstalled all of them. From the registry, Program Files, and Control Panel. Where else could they have been stored?
