E-mail Problems

The web application I maintain sends out a fair amount of e-mail as notifications of certain events, no biggie there.

Recently I have moved the company web site onto the same dedicated host that runs the web application and much of the company e-mail we send is bounced back as locally blacklisted.

Anyone have any experience in this area?  Is it possible to have our e-mails appear to come from a different server without them actually doing so?  Is it best to get a small hosting package just for e-mail?

Thanks!
