ahh, read is a built in function...didnt know that....thank you so much for your help!
-
can someone enlighten me as to what is wrong with this snippet
$message_sql = "select * from messages where to_id=$id and read='no'"; $message_query = mysql_query($message_sql); $message_num_rows = mysql_num_rows($message_query);
i get this error
PHP Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given
what its basically telling me is that the "read" filed doesnt exist..because when I take it out of my query, the query works fine...however I do have a "read" field in my db with value of "no" stored in it..so im not sure why its telling me that it doesnt exist..

I think that the link error is happening because you are connecting to mysql multiple times
-
and what results are you receiving?
-
okay, thank you
-
i believe that it is in you "M" row...you do not have any commas ending this row
-
just a quick tip.. the `` are acceptable but are not needed
-
the only thing that I notice is that you are using 2 closing } ....unless you have code above this else statement that requires it
-
try changing this
while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 10000, ",") ) !== FALSE )
to this
while ( ($data = fgetcsv($handle) ) !== FALSE )
-
this
"VALUES ('$first_name', '$last)name', '$email')";
should be
"VALUES ('$first_name', '$last_name', '$email')";

please encase your php code using the code tags..

-

I have heard of $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] returning the web server IP address, as well as the browser IP address. Have not checked to see if it was fixed however
-
welcome to the site.. when you are inserting code, please use the code tags as this makes the code easily distinguishable.
-
also, "forking" actually means to send a process to the background...so im not 100% sure what it is that you are trying to accomplish..my appologies
-
Sorry about the first post...i inserted code tags instead of url tags..oops.

I just would like to know how can I alter photos or file in php. Or should I just do a delete and then upload a new one?
what exactly do you mean by alter? Are you talking about the basic size, borders etc..?

this function will submit an asynchronous POST query to the specified url
function backgroundPost($url){ $parts=parse_url($url); $fp = fsockopen($parts['host'], isset($parts['port'])?$parts['port']:80, $errno, $errstr, 30); if (!$fp) { return false; } else { $out = "POST ".$parts['path']." HTTP/1.1\r\n"; $out.= "Host: ".$parts['host']."\r\n"; $out.= "Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded\r\n"; $out.= "Content-Length: ".strlen($parts['query'])."\r\n"; $out.= "Connection: Close\r\n\r\n"; if (isset($parts['query'])) $out.= $parts['query']; fwrite($fp, $out); fclose($fp); return true; } } //Example of use backgroundPost('http://example.com/slow.php?file='. urlencode('some file.dat'));
should work for ya
