it looks email related from what I can see on google... maybe a mail server edit a bit more digging via wikipedia turned out this: http://www.pmail.com/overviews/ovw_mercury.htm

again, impressive. i'm wondering if there's a stylus or graphics tablet of some form at work rather than a mouse. THEN it seems more feasible.

take a look at their documentation. you'll need to sign up for a Google Maps API key first of all, and then start with one of their examples they give. For basic use, it's easy enough to literally take one of the examples and use it without changing much, but it depends on what you're after specifically. http://www.google.com/apis/maps/

hard to critique due to the lack off stuff. you really need to get more down first. if it's a more modern theme you're going for, with the panels/colours the way they are, then it might be worth looking around to see how others do it, what colours they use, etc. Using boxes like that work well when they're tight together. Take a look at the layout here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/entertainment/

ha it must have took him a while, but if you think about it - it's only nerdy/sad because his painting tool of choice was a PC with MSPaint. Seriously, I've seen how long it takes artists to draw stuff on "real" canvas - or musician to record a CD (which i've been attempting for nearly 5 years and still not finished ) - creativity takes time. LOTS of time. Pretty impressive, I say.

unbelievable - for the 'guitarists' out there...

yeah in some ways i'd agree, but it's a different genre altogether - so probably sidewards comparable rather than better/worse. if you like the whole acoustic tapping thing, then this guy, Erik Mongrain, really is amazing: similar style to the one you posted. -

i have PC-Cillin and AVG here. PC-Cillin is long over its evaluation period, I just havent gotten around to uninstalling it - but it did the trick. AVG though suits my needs too. However - you can be bulletproof to the teeth with AV software, but nothing compensates for due care and attention and a little paranoia. I've had only a single alert (other than Cookie stuff) in the past 2 years or so, just by keeping my computer up to date, my firewall on, and just being a bit careful with what I use/download. edit: erm...unless i'm missing something, the phrase "two sandwiches short of a picnic" spring to mind -
take wildteen's suggestion on board: get the basics down first. THEN concentrate on managing templates, etc - it'll make a lot more sense to you.

and i always thought cookies were a type of biscuit... chaps, keep the noise down a little bit...

neal, {} is a deprecated version of [] which is the more common way of accessing strings - ie, by treating a string like an array. so $string{$char} is the same as $string[$char]

for a personal site, it looks ok - if a little "unbalanced" (ie, on the home page, the left column is the smallest, the right column is the largest) - so there's tonnes of whitespace towards the bottom. nothing a bit of shuffling around wouldnt sort out. i'd recommend making your top logo a link back to the homepage. ps not sure on where you got them etc as they maybe in the public domain, but are you sure the ebooks are fine to offer as downloads? -

the song itself is Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel but was re-arranged by JerryC. The kid in the video i posted is one of many who've tried and one of only few that have done a damn good job of getting close to Jerry's, and is pretty famous in his own right because of it. Chris, look up "JerryC" on youtube - you'll see that (whilst he genuinely messed a few notes up) he actually copies some of the original errors. I normally get bored of all this shredding stuff as it's more of a show-off rather than anything musical - but this really is fantastic. -
I saw this only yesterday - It's been knocking around on YouTube, etc, for quite a while so maybe old news to some but it nearly blew my head off It's a cover of some other dudes arrangement, but IMO much nicer. Tis not so much the speed that makes it impressive, just the whole sound. Enjoy

It told me I was living in squalor. Just kidding. Works ok for me

spot on chaps. i'll take a look and let you know! Cheers all for the help.

the original method also works. the double quotes for a string (") instead of singles (') allow you to embed variables like this. i actually use the original way quite a bit, however I seperate them from the content using { } like: <?php $string = "my name is {$myname['forename']} {$myname['surname']}"; ?> just to avoid any confusion. either way, both ways are valid and will work.

i tried that. the 3 partitions are (according to the image) consecutive. the one i selected and deleted was the first of the 3 - but when i selected "delete logical drive" it promted me - i clicked yes. but not only did THAT drive say its bye byes, so did the 3rd of the 3. now it shows the 3 partitions, but the first and 3rd are "Free Space" whilst the 2nd remains untouched.
-
no - Disk Management (within Computer Management) on XP. I wouldnt be as confused, but i've done exactly the same thing before with no hassle - it just deleted a partition i didnt even have selected as well as the one I did.
-
Anyone have any idea how to restore a partition? I had one of my drives partitioned into 3. However, when I deleted one of them, another one got totalled as well - and I need it back. Anyone know any (ideally free) ways of getting my partition back? Nothing was formatted at all. Cheers Mark edit: PS - I'm on Windows XP Pro

yep just to expand - if you have a list of conditions all seperated with (for example) &&, then if any of the conditions/checks fail, none of the rest are tested. so above, using isset first means that the second bit actually checking its value never gets tested.

from what i remember testing this a while back, PalmPC's/Mobiles/PDA's etc create extra variables (other than the HTTP_USER_AGENT) in the $_SERVER array. if you do a print_r dump of the $_SERVER array and run the script on the mobile device, you should be able to pick out what they are. I'll post them here if i find the script I was playing with...
