how do i make a php based scripted site send out automatic emails to members

I have a site coded in php and its a social site and i wanted memebers to get a automatic email when they get a pic comment or regular comment or even a friends request, also wanted the site to send out a automatic email for the members birthday saying happy bithday from your friends at xeleven59.

Im still learning php im framiliar with the site just dont know how to code a php auto emailer from scratch

last time i coded something i thought would give me a box to put a embed code and a player for videos i got a login screen to my site and havnt figured out how to make it do what its suppose to do yet hey im trying.

and last but not least i just got a flash player of source forge and now i have to figure out how to tie it into the video and music part of my site so members can search my music and add it to that player so they can get the embed code for the player and songs they just created.

any ideas would be great or even some part time help , im kinda looking for part time developer to help button the site up and fix some bugs. Look at the php mail function.

The script dont have a php mail funtions it does have a admin area where i can email members or all the sites members

i had to add the pic comments and had to assign something to ea picture for the comment to go to that pic only so im thinking im going to have to do the same with the comments or pic comments and friends requests and then make it a automated email to that member and let me say i know im in deep on this one lol i dont know where to start i had help on the pic comments my first try on that everyone would laugh their butt off i got the pic comments on there and went to comment one of my sexy chic friends and i always picked on her because of her boobs well i commented about her boobs well lets just say i was horrified when i saw it commented every pic on the site i bout fell over lol so i know i need help on this automated email script or my luck everyone would get a email for someone else all at the same time like i said im a newbie but im trying

Let me offer you some advice about asking questions here.

 

Write in sentences. If you can't be bothered to write something readable, why would we bother to read it.

 

State the php problem. The sexy chick's boobs are irrelevant.

I have not seen a run-on sentence that bad since maybe 2nd grade.  Not even kidding.  Now, PLEASE look at the manual page I linked you to.  I wouldn't have linked you to it if I didn't think it would help. =/
