Quick questions re: XHTML 1.0 Strict vs. XHTML 1.1

Is there any real difference between the two, other than how their doctype is declared?  I read something about 1.1 being 'module based.'  Does this mean it can be mixed and mashed with other XML-based markup languages (like, say, a set of locally defined mathematic tags)?

Yes there are some differences.

One example I can think of is you need to place fields in a <fieldset> tag in strict, wherein 1.1 you don't need to.

Only way to find out is make your strict document, and then run it through a validator.
