Dysan
Hi, how do websites except payments? What is needed to except payments on websites? - How does the National Lottery website work, in order to add funds to your account? Cheers
RMcLeod
Well first of all you need an internet merchant number from your bank. Then you need to sign up with a payment gateway such as Prtox or Worldpay and then do the necessary integration work. Alternatively you can use Paypal which doesn't require you to have an internet merchant number.
DarkWater
1) The verb is "accept". Sorry, it was just bothering me. 2) You can use something like Paypal (I'd probably recommend this route. People "trust" your site when they see the Paypal logo.)
Dysan
What happens if people don't use PayPal though?
Dysan
Oh yeah. Sorry about the spelling mistake (ACCEPT), silly me!
DarkWater
You can check out the Verisign API to handle credit cards. But let me warn you. You NEVER want to store credit card information on your own database, no matter how secure it is, because WHEN (not if) your database is hacked, there is no way you can afford the law suits. That's why passing it over to a 3rd party is better. If they don't have PayPal, link them to a Paypal account creation page and make them sign up.
