Very new to this, looking for a mentor(s)

I'm very new to this stuff, but I find it interesting and I want to learn PHP, especially with regards to creating database-driven websites and stuff like that.  This is just a hobby for me, but if I like it, and it works out, I might like to look into studying it more formally.

I'm working on my first website (http://www.fsairpark.com).  I'm into the online Flight Simulator community, and I'm trying to build a site that will be interesting to me and some other people of that persuasion.  It needs, basically, a database and a way for users to register, log in, and deal with the database.  I think there's probably enough information on this website and other tutorials I've found (plus print books) to figure out how to do what I want.  I've got some ideas already.  But I also think I could learn it much faster and more productively if I had a friend or two who could follow me through and help me out.  The things I want to do are probably pretty trivial for anyone who knows what they're doing.

I've studied and currently work in a completely unrelated field, so I don't really know anyone who knows about these things.  Is anyone here willing to take me under their wing and help me get my first PHP/MySQL project off the ground?

Thank you,

Dave

**yoda speaking**padawan much to learn has.  forum visits and yet no questions asked, hmmm?

creepy...i spelled padawan right on the first try...

dont ask for a mentor.  just post your question...  if you learn from one person, you will make the same mistakes that person will make.  if you learn from everyone, they will correct each other and you will learn the right way to do things.

And here I thought you were going to say:

If you learn from everyone, you will make the same mistakes they all make.
