SemiApocalyptic European date expression is fine, however, it allows for spaces or other characters to be before and/or after the date. If you're trying to validate an entered date from a form, use "^$" in the expression. Below is a modified version, where it allows a forward slash (/) or dash (-) to be used as a separator, and it only allows years in the range between 1900 and 2999 (i.e. 31-12-2005).

Please note that these date expressions allow a February date to have more than 28/29 days.

SemiApocalyptic email address expression is fine for practical email address verification today, however, it allows for spaces or other characters to be before and/or after the email address. If you're trying to validate an entered email from a form, use "^$" in the expression like so:

The RFC822 email address specification is not practical since it allows almost anything to be valid. The expression to conform to RFC822 is below but I don't recommend using it.
