Zane
well hopefully you haven't lost your root password or you're doomed (as far as your current installation experience goes) but if you know it...either log on as root or look into the sudo command google it... sudo Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/128177-ubuntu-704/#findComment-663848 Share on other sites

Zane
OH yeah....nevermind Ubuntu doesn't have a root user you have to use the sudo command...like I mentioned for anything having to do with root permissions EDIT and you have to use that password Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/128177-ubuntu-704/#findComment-663862 Share on other sites
Daniel0
OH yeah....nevermind Ubuntu doesn't have a root user Its password is just locked. You can "enable" it by using passwd to set a password for the root user. You can also get a root session by typing sudo -i Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/128177-ubuntu-704/#findComment-663864 Share on other sites
sylvertwst
u can try one of following: sudo <command> this will execute whatever command you give it with root privileges. if there's multiple commands you need to do you'll have to type 'sudo' everytime at the start of the line. if you dont want to do that you can do (not recommended): sudo su will make you root in terminal until you decide to stop using root privileges bye tying 'exit' these above two should give you all the acces you need to do whatever you want. in ubuntu you shouldnt need to gain a fully enabled root account. hope it helps, Sylv Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/128177-ubuntu-704/#findComment-664102 Share on other sites
