smctainsh
Hi All, Thanks for the feedback you've all given me for my recent projects - I really appreciate it! I've been working on a new concept for my portfolio (smctainsh.com) and would appreciate any feedback on it. At the moment, the blog and contact page aren't complete (the blog hasn't been set up at all), but the portfolio and home page are (should be) working. Again, any feedback is greatly appreciated. You can view the portfolio here. Thanks in advance, Steven
JasonLewis
I like the idea. It's unique but it doesn't do it for me. If found those dragable boxes to be annoying and I'm on a 1280x800 resolution, I'd hate to think what they are like on smaller resolutions. I don't really like it, sorry. Just doesn't appeal to me. :\
smctainsh
@ProjectFear: Thanks for the feedback! I thought that the boxes would be annoying, as they appear to overlap on a 1024 x 868 resolution too. I've decided to work on 'realigning' my current website design instead of completely 'redesigning' it. Steven
JasonLewis
Yeah that would be a better idea as the website you have now is far better then the newer one, IMO.
nrg_alpha
- Dragible alignment issues aside.. I too like the idea.. but it feels like simply a collection of loose components simply floating around. I would consider having everything consolidated within some common GUI (perhaps this all takes place within a page of a book instead?) - If the user's javascript is disabled, they cannot move those components.. what's the backup plan for this? - Your site does not validate. (I keep seeing people put links on the bottom of their pages claiming it is valid, yet it isn't). - I am reading your 5 reasons to be chosen. I'm not sure about the first point. I am not a professional web developer (by any stretch), so I don't know how those things work.. But I read that setting prices by project / task / milestone seems to be prefered. Someone might take longer to do the same task as opposed to someone else.. even if the results are the same, one might be more expensive than the other... Just be sure you are fast and good to be charging by hour. Not sure how many clients go for that sort of thing. - Your site doesn't take well to text resizing via Ctrl plus +. Granted, your font's size seems big enough.. but still... having that flexibility would be nice IMO. Again, the idea is nice and different, but I feel it lacks polish / structure..feels far too disjointed IMO.
