hi,

i have a site in which people can upload URLs to pictures they want to share... but some of the people are uploading links to protected HOTLINKED images which just won't show in my site.... so I'd like to know if there is any way to recognize these NOT-SHOWING - HOTLINKED images and tell the users prior to their upload that these pictures won't work... try uploading somewhere else...

Any idea ?!

I do not think it is possible. You would have to have image recognition software to determine it.

Although the site that is dishing the image may send some type of header with the image, which I do not know if you can parse it out, but yea that might get you something. The only thing I could think of to do, is ask the user to verify the uploaded image if they verify it, post it, if they say no, than dont add it.

I would hope a user would not post a blank square image. Sometimes you would hope that users would be smarter than they are.

For others next to come:

2nd one works way better as the first one might make mistakes and change also pictures you don't want to change....

Thanks for all who have tried to help.....
