PROBLEM:

Using WAMP (for PHP) in VISTA - Cannot save NOTEPAD FILE  to www folder.

 

 

Hi there

 

I recently embarked on APACHE /PHP / MySQL

using WAMP to download them.

 

LOCALHOST seems OK.

 

Then created a simple "hello world" statement....

<? php

 

echo "Hello World";

 

?>

 

---

 

When I try to save it in the  www folder

as helloworld.php

as

an 'ALL FILES' type,

 

The following message appears:

 

C:\Program Files\wamp\helloworld.php

You don't have permission to save in this location

Contact the Administrator to obtain permission.

Would you like to save in the Parcent Folder (Computer's name) instead ?

 

I am the Administrator for the system

 

Effectively, something is not allowing me to save the file.

 

I am not certain if this is a Wamp, Vista or PHP problem.

 

Anyone have an idea what is causing this ... and even better ...

What would be the solution ?

Install wamp in C:\wamp\

Or just change the file permissions of the folder.

I've been fighting a lot with other application that couldn't cope with Vista's write permissions for C:\Program Files. It ended up installed elsewhere...

Are you logged in as the admin account?
