ober
Please post the exact code and make sure you are not including this file inside another file that already sends information to the client. ober
Remove all white space. You probably have a tab character at least in there according to the spacing. Depending on your editor, that could be your problem. Also, one of the error messages points to your ability to save session data. Have sessions ever worked for you on that server? genericnumber1
Permission denied errors on session_start() can be indicative of your Session.save_path being configured improperly in your php.ini file (which I think the previous poster was asking about). Can you post your Session.save_path value here? I think the header error only occurs because the session_start() is outputting an error message about a permission denial. chordsoflife
Yea, it has worked. It still works - the error messages are just there. I can log in and out no problem. It might also be noteworthy that I checked on another computer and the error messages were not there. How should I start it.. just right up against the "<?"? So: <?session_start() I'll check the php.ini file, but this is on my college's network, so I can't change it. Is there a way to edit it in the php? I think I've seen something along those lines. Anyway, I'll post back in a minute. Thanks! Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/142914-solved-error-message-help/#findComment-749292 Share on other sites

chordsoflife
I know, right? That's what I said. Here's my php.ini result: /.../uvm.edu/fs/uvmshare/tmp/php Here's what it's trying: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/.../uvm.edu/fs/uvmshare/tmp/php/sess_8217c839794ad432cfca5f2d2a84c97f, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /fs/barasinga/rack5f/u/department/uvmst/public_html/inc/db.php on line 3 Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/142914-solved-error-message-help/#findComment-749306 Share on other sites
genericnumber1
By "another computer" you mean a different server, not just visiting the web page from a different computer... right? If you just visited the web page from another computer, try ctrl-f5 (load without cache) on your computer that isn't working properly, if you moved it to a different php server, read this: "/.../uvm.edu/fs/uvmshare/tmp/php" PRETTY sure that's not right. Glad I could be vague and help. Since you seem to be using a shared server, you can try to navigate through the directory tree and find the correct directory or you could just contact your service provider and ask what the proper setting is. chordsoflife
Ok... that was the weirdest thing ever. It was working flawlessly on IE on the same computer, and fine in FF and IE on my laptop. Logically - clear the temp, cache & cookies, right? No dice. Rebooting, however, worked wonders. Dance like it's 1995. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/142914-solved-error-message-help/#findComment-749344 Share on other sites
genericnumber1
Hey, don't question it if it is working now. Glad you got it working. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/142914-solved-error-message-help/#findComment-749345 Share on other sites
