PHP and SEO

I was wondering if I use PHP to grab meta data from a database and display it, will it be picked up by crawlers? I have a content management system setup for a client and I want to give the option to change some of the meta data as their company changes. Is this a good idea? Is it SEO approved?

Getting keywords or description from a database is fine. Search Engines will read the published website, ignoring any server side work before hand.

You just need to make your client aware that they will not see teh results of changes they make straight away.
