Hello All,

I have a database table named "iba"

The table has the following columns:

id (auto increment)

studentid (which is equal to the session id of the current logged in user)

date

dep/wtd

event

ammount

total

Here's my question:

I can figure out how to add up the values in the column "ammount", but I need the values from "ammount" to be interested automatically into the column "total". There are many different rows added for different events, and the ammount earned from each event needs to be added up in the total column.

Hopefully this makes sense, thanks!

I can figure out how to add up the values in the column "ammount",

SUM().

but I need the values from "ammount" to be interested automatically into the column "total".

When and what conditions?

Don't follow here either.  Possibly, you can use a sub-query to handle this and grab the sums for each event.
