Getting crazy while making DB structure for Network Marketing

Recommended Posts

Hello friends,

i m moderate in sql, or you can say not that good. I m developing multilevel marketing or network marketing web application, but I've been banging my head creating a database structure. Brief concept is listed below so anybody enlighten me with how i should start.

1. A member creates their account, suppose his username is "abc"

2. Other members are being referred by "abc"

3. There are many levels of members.

4. "abc" has suppose pqr, xyz, mno in first level (these three are being referred by abc)

5. again pqr might have tuv, wxy, rst, zab, etc this is first level for pqr and 2nd level for user abc.

6. now again tuv has 6 members, this is first level for tuv, 2nd level for pqr and 3rd level for abc.

7. Now the user abc gets commissions for the member he created and the members created by his members. He gets commissions for upto 4 levels.

All i want is to create a member table so that i can keep track of these members and i can easily find the members upto 4 levels. Can anybody enlighten me? i will be really grateful

thanks

You're talking about storing hierarchical data... there many resources available, including some in the stickies.

Thanks for the reply fren, it would have been much easier if you've provided me the link to such resources or stickies, i dont know where to find or with what keyword i should search.

thanks aagain
