Nowadays, the preferred way of writing web pages is to not use HTML as a template, but rather as a document describing meaningful semantic information about the various parts of the content.

That's sounding very much like a description of XML.

Hi Guys, I'm completely new to this forum and just ordered couple books from amazon 1. PHP + SQL and 2 HTML + CSS both for the beginners. I did not use any programing language since probably 1990 when I was programming in Sinclair Basic and some Logo, but thats ancient history. I do change some CSS paramiters on my wordpress websites but you don't need to know programming to do that it's more of the common sense.

Hence there will be lot's of people here who is only playing with the code change litlle bit of html, css and php there and there, so I don't believe they would see a difference between them as they are all part of programming one website, maybe this language should be called CHaPS

(CSS, HTML and PHP,SQL) what about that? :o
