nrg_alpha
http://bumptop.com/ Gimicky? Sure (I don't consider it to be 'practical' by any measure)... makes for something a little more interesting / entertaining than the typical desktop however. Daniel0
I tried it out back when it was in a closed beta. It was just annoying most of the time.
Garethp
It looks quite interesting. You know, the kinda thing that would keep me amused for an hour or so. It reminds me of this program that tracked the quantities of different types of connections to your computers, and made a virtual world full of plants out of it
.josh
yeah i tried it out during closed beta too. I thought it would be cool but after trying it, even barring the bugs (being closed beta and all...) it was annoying and seemed like it was adding extra steps to things instead of making things easier. I had fun throwing files/folders around the place, and spreading them out like cards and shit though...for like 5m....
corbin
Based on the screenshot, that would just look weird to me. Still sounds like a kind of cool idea. Guess all of y'all thought it sucked though haha.
Garethp
Oh yeah, I got the name of the program I was talking about. Tis called Packet Garden http://www.selectparks.net/~julian/pg/ I love Firefox. I couldn't find the homepage of that program via Google, but I typed it into Firefox's Awesome Bar and it found it for me
freddyw
I tried it. Didn't like it. The whole idea of a PC desktop is to keep files organised, easy to find, and to revolutionise an actual dekstop. Making the PC desktop an actual desktop was fairly pointless and most of the time just frustrating.
