seventheyejosh
I just have a quick question. If I make a site, for myself and make a nice logo, or a catch phrase, is it auto copyrighted? Like, did facebook have to get their logo copyrighted? Or the slogan, "A place for friends?". Or did they do it solely because they are such a high-profit, high-risk company? Any links or responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/175816-copyright-question/ Share on other sites
Daniel0
The logo artwork will be "auto copyrighted", as you put it. You cannot copyright a sentence, and that is what a slogan is. A slogan is a trademark. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/175816-copyright-question/#findComment-926448 Share on other sites
seventheyejosh
OK so, is a slogan trademarked automatically then? And to what extent? Will courts demand literal matches? Or clear changes? Like if facebook is suing real_facebook.com what would happen? Facebook.com - "A place for friends" Real_Facebook.com - "The REAL place for friends" What would be the usual outcome? You can see that it is clearly based off of it, but it isn't literally it. corbin
realfacebook.com would definitely lose. As far as trademark goes, no, it's not automatic, and no, it's not free.
