Garethp
What exactly is it? I think it's anti-censorship and... stuff... but I don't really understand it Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/178574-what-exactly-is-net-neatrality/ Share on other sites
trq
I'm not sure that is a word. Where have you heard of it? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/178574-what-exactly-is-net-neatrality/#findComment-941761 Share on other sites
Garethp
Sorry, I meant net neutrality Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/178574-what-exactly-is-net-neatrality/#findComment-941762 Share on other sites
trq
Considering that neutral generally means you don't lean either left or right (opinion wise), then I would assume being in a state of neutrality means much the same. You don't care either way. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/178574-what-exactly-is-net-neatrality/#findComment-941766 Share on other sites

nadeemshafi9
is it something to do with platform independence ? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/178574-what-exactly-is-net-neatrality/#findComment-941790 Share on other sites
Daniel0
is it something to do with platform independence ? Why don't you read the article I linked to? Network neutrality (also net neutrality, Internet neutrality) is a principle proposed for residential broadband networks and potentially for all networks. A neutral broadband network is one that is free of restrictions on content, sites, or platforms, on the kinds of equipment that may be attached, and on the modes of communication allowed, as well as one where communication is not unreasonably degraded by other communication streams. The principle states that if a given user pays for a certain level of internet access, and another user pays for a given level of access, that the two users should be able to connect to each other at that given rate of access. nadeemshafi9
In 2003 Tim Wu, a professor at Columbia Law School, published and popularized a proposal for a net neutrality rule, in his paper Network Neutrality, Broadband Discrimination. Do you recon university professors steal their pupils papers and create a master paper ? (i wouldn't call it stealing) using the papers of people who need the qualification quickly and dont care about the work they did except for making it awesome ??? I think its the popularized bit you gotta get but that's only if you know what your saying is actually gonna take off.
