Logging in with Username rather than ID

Hello, I have a page where users log into the site. It currently uses their ID number and password but I want to change it so they use their User name instead.. When I try and do this I get the error :

 

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_insert_Username() in H:\xampp\xampp\htdocs\burned\loginAction.php on line 36

 

The line (after I changed it to Username) is:

 

header("Location: loggedon.php?"."Username=". mysql_insert_Username($connection));   

 

Is there a way to get the ID from the Username and then use the ID in just this line of code?

it means that there's no function named "mysql_insert_Username()"

You cannot expect data to change by modifying a function name. In this case, *_id is a function to return the primitive incremental ID, The username is data within a table, Nothing to do with a function.
