Hi everyone, im having a major headache with my host, I cant change file permissions via ftp as it says directory doesnt exist when it blatently does, and when I try and do it through the webmin section online java seems to say it doesnt trust the server,

This may be a stupid question but is it possible to use htaccess to force change permissions on such files and directories??

No. If you have shell access you can set the sticky bit on directories though. This will ensure there contents are set with the same permissions.
