If you using SMTP mail, then u have specify the username and password, otherwise no need at all....

 

All mail is sent via smtp.

 

To answer the question. PHP's mail function does not support authentication. This usually means you need to use a local smtp server to send mail. However, there do exist third party libraries around that will allow you to pass authentication data to an smtp server, thus enabling you to use an account on a remote machine.
