thewooleymammoth
THIS IS AN AWESOME IDEA. Some flaws (i think) when i search for a program. I typed in photoshop expecting the obvious answer (gimp). my answers were Adobe Photoshop alternatives: GIMP Adobe Photoshop CinePaint gimp did come up, but if i didnt know what was for linux and what was for windows. you might try the os in paranthesis or something to that effect, but i think the best way to do it would be to show the results like this. Adobe Photoshop alternatives Windows Alternatives: GIMP Adobe Photoshop CinePaint Linux Alternatives: GIMP OSX Alternatives: GIMP Adobe Photoshop CinePaint also you may consider links to the programs if they are for windows because there is no package manager for windows (one more thing linux has on windows). Im assuming this can be changed by the community? if so why not let the community have as many options as possible for making the program info very specific. Just specify that some things can be left blank. Nice work though, i can see this site having a lot of potential.

oni-kun
A beautiful site, Such an example is "Windows Movie Maker" coming up with some classic programs for *nix. Impressed me enough to bookmark it and show others who would be confused what there is for linux in place of Windows programs, keep up the work! Axeia
Since you're listing Linux alternatives you may want to consider showing for which one of the major desktops the application is intended. For example when I search for "msn" it returns: Pidgin, Empathy, Kopete and aMSN. Chances are that if I'm using the Gnome desktop I'd be interested in both Pidgin and Empathy but wouldn't like Kopete much. It would also be nice if the rating was display directly instead of having to click each application to see which is the most popular. (could be that you're sorting by popularity atm, I don't know and neither would anyone else visiting). Quick and dirty mockup below.. icons are far too large though, but it gets the idea across. lostprophetpunk
A suggestion for when a user searches Sony Vegas or any other windows video editing software...it would be nice to see Final Cut Pro up there as it's a top video editing software for the Mac, and also for audio a program called Audacity...which is Windows and Mac compatible. Nice website but the design is a bit too simple.
