Commenting Out Code (noob)

Thanks Joel.

No, /*... */ and //, do not work.

The file is an .html, but I don't think there is a difference.

I have been told that some code do not work well when using IIS server instead of Apache, for example (I am working on local).

Could it be the case ?

/* and // are to comment out text in a PHP file, commenting out in PHP and HTML files is completely different.

the commenting out you posted was correct for html:

<!-- IF not S_DISPLAY_RECENT -->
    <!-- INCLUDE portal/block/recent.html -->
<!-- ENDIF -->

Although I don't see what you're trying to do? HTML hasn't the ability to process IF and INCLUDE statements...

Joel, now I am really confused :

The file is an .html.

This is php code inside the html:

<!-- IF not S_DISPLAY_RECENT -->
    <!-- INCLUDE portal/block/recent.html -->
<!-- ENDIF -->

And that's not PHP code. That is 3 HTML comments.
