Redesigning my site - need suggestions

Perry Mason

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm trying to redesign my site http://medeponyms.com to make it look less 90s. This is the new version:

http://medeponyms.com/index1.php (the majority of the links is not functional yet)

I tried to maintain the consistency with the previous version in the color scheme. I like the way the header and the top navigation panel look, but I'm not so sure about the right panel. I've been playing with it for a couple of days and basically I'm stuck for ideas. What do y'all think?

You have a really good idea here, the design is hard to read though. If it were me, I would tone down the colors a little bit and work on giving it more of a medical feel, more professional. Model it after big name companies like Web MD or Dr. offices. People are use to seeing those sites when looking for medical information. Working on credibility will help your business out.

I should go for a more colour less design maybe a hint of green or purple (just like a hospital). White or very light grey background. And let stuff look like it flows a bit, everything now looks extremely 2D.  Mean reason for this is that there is no visible margin between the items. Look for instance at those nice twitter and facebook buttons, they look great, they have some space which lets them pop out a bit. try to apply that on your site a bit. anyway considering your previous design this is indeed an improvement. :) damn 90's

Ok, I've tried to tone down the colors, although I really like that shade of blue in the header so I'm keeping that for now (don't want the site to look hospital-blue and sterile, despite its subject). I've also added some three-dimensionality with box drop shadows (as a result they don't work in IE). What do you all think?

Initial: http://medeponyms.com/index.php

Color crazy: http://medeponyms.com/index1.php

The latest: http://medeponyms.com/index2.php
