son.of.the.morning
I have chosen to do my dissertation on web development. For my dissertation we have to create a project based on the proposed subject (in my case web development/multimedia). I want to use php and slq as the primary source of development. I was just wondering if any had any ideas or knows of any helpful resource, i would be extremely graph full. Thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/213416-dissertation-help/ Share on other sites
fortnox007
Well i am not really sure what you want, (it's kinda vague), But A good dissertation always looks back, tells where we are now and what we might expect in the future. (the future is bright) Also use heads and tails. Start with a quote or something people can think about and repeat that in the end. Applying this will give you a 9 on a scale from 1 to 10 ;-) at least it does with me al the time. Maybe also promote open source, and the progressive learning due to internet :-) If you get a 9 you may buy me a cake nom nom nom Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/213416-dissertation-help/#findComment-1111150 Share on other sites

son.of.the.morning
Good stuff man, my girl friend studies law & criminal justice. Why is it you didn't go for a computing degree? fortnox007
Well, the problem is I like too much things. But I like Law more, since it also has some more human interaction, and you can always win, despite the odds. But they are both nice creative professions which require a nice set of brains. I don't do criminal law though I prefer Intellectual Properties Law, more challenging, better clients, that don't shoot you if you loose . son.of.the.morning
hahaha, i see your point. Jess (the wife) seems to be more interested in rehabilitation for the people i like to call scum, she believes strongly that changes should be made in order to change how these people see/take life; in other words give the excising scum bags a second chance and build a brighter future for the next generation. The subject itself seems to be interesting but i am far to judgmental to take it on as a career, she says give them another chance i say lock them up and throw away the key. She is currently writing her proposal for her dissertation on disability hate crime. I am studying multimedia systems, smart devices and computer forensics due to me having allot more background knowledge (took the easy way out:P) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/213416-dissertation-help/#findComment-1111173 Share on other sites
fortnox007
We share the same personal (not legal) view scum should be treated like scum. And rehabilitation is an illusion made up by psychologists to have a job. Recidivism proofs it. Nice study btw, the future will be bright. KevinM1
FWIW, the future of PHP is a bit fuzzy at the moment. Version 6 has been axed - the features it was supposed to add (late static binding, namespaces, etc.) are slowly being released as new versions of PHP 5. AFAIK, there is no version 6 road map right now. Facebook has been doing some interesting things with PHP. Look here: http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/358 Aside from that, I'm not sure if there's a clear vision of the future of the language. PHP 5 has been around for, what, 5 or 6 years? And Zend doesn't follow a rigid release schedule like, say, Microsoft which releases a new version of .NET every 2 years like clockwork.
