Xtremer360
I don't know why but I echoed this and then got the echoed query and put it in the sql of my mysql database and it says that the syntax isn't right but I looked and I don't see a problem but I am probably over looking something. $query = "INSERT INTO `characters` (charactername, shortname, status_id, style_id, division_id, alignment_id, sortorder, creator_id, datecreated, enabled) VALUES (".$charactername.",".$shortname.",".$status.",".$style.",".$division.",".$alignment.",".$sortorder.", 1, NOW(), 0)"; Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/224720-syntax-is-wrong/ Share on other sites
beegro
What you have shown as your $query has no quotes around the fields you are trying to assign. Assuming that you're not trying to assign all numeric values then you'll need to wrap your VALUE fields in quotes. (look at the single quotes around $charactername and $shortname. $query = "INSERT INTO `characters` (charactername, shortname, status_id, style_id, division_id, alignment_id, sortorder, creator_id, datecreated, enabled) VALUES ('".$charactername."','".$shortname."',".$status.",".$style.",".$division.",".$alignment.",".$sortorder.", 1, NOW(), 0)"; Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/224720-syntax-is-wrong/#findComment-1160684 Share on other sites
