that's extremely vague... there are so many aspects and directions you can take even a simple CMS... what type of data will you be needing to control? give us an idea of what your simple cms is going to handle, and we'll be able to help much more efficiently.
You can't win, you can't lose, you can't break even... you can't even get out of the game.

Check this site out here: WZ2K Part 1 - 4 is on the first page (which is the link above) and part 5 - 6 in on the next page. All free to download and watch and is done in Dreamweaver MX 2004!

Just sign upto the forums for additional help.

Also if you become a premium member you'll a further 10 tutorials for a low price of £3.20 GBP (which is about $6 USD) - requires forum memebership tho.

Its a great site for tutorials or go here for a different version. Which is hand coded and is very well explained, BUT you'll need to have a bit of knowledge of PHP to througouhly understand it tho.

OR download a pre-made CMS which is free. This one for example: http://www.websitebaker.org/ is simple to use CMS and is free to use too.

CMS stands for Content Management System.

Check out the links in my post to see what they can do.

Better yet, take a look at the site http://www.opensourcecms.com which not only has news information and links to the major PHP based cms systems, forums and wikis, but also has demos of them installed that you can play with.
