xxsunshinegodxx
I am moving a website from one server to another. configured the database and started changing the links over to the new server. Everything has been fine but came across a link for a httpd and not sure what to do $uploaddir = "/home/httpd/html/newquay/members/uploads/" - that was in a php file from the old server how would i relate this to the new server which really looks like this: home/xmasphot/public_html/www.newquayuncovered.com/members/uploads Can i just add it as 'home/xmasphot/public_html/www.newquayuncovered.com/members/uploads' should i put it in ' or in " Any help would be greatly appreciated Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/226407-noob-question-on-httpd/ Share on other sites
requinix
Sometimes the quote style matters. This time it does not. Good rule of thumb: Try it. If it works, great. If it doesn't, fix it. gizmola
In PHP the difference between double quotes and single quotes is minimal. If you use double quotes, the variable will be "interpolated". This means that php has to parse the string looking for "symbols" (blocks, variable and constants names) and if found will replace those variables with their values. It is always a good idea to start with the single quotes (which make a string constant) since they will not interpolate, unless you specifically want and need interpolation.
