mattal999
Hey guys/gals, Well, I just got an email from PHP Fog (I signed up around a month ago) saying that I need referrals in order to gain access - seems a bit of a marketing ploy to me but hey-ho! If anyone wants to get an account, you may as well go through me! Here's my link. I was looking into cloud hosting for a few personal projects as well as a few websites that I've done commercially. I found a few free and paid services that seemed to offer a substantial amount of bandwidth for either very little or a lot. In the process, I followed a link to PHP Fog and it seemed like the perfect thing, although it was free so naturally, I was doubtful. Any way, that brings us to now. When/if I get access, I'll let you guys know what I think and if it really is a viable hosting option. Seems very relevant for the community here! ohdang888
I'm having mixed feelings about it. They still need to add functionality for even basic things like subdomains, FTP, etc Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/229998-php-fog-any-good/#findComment-1185321 Share on other sites

mattal999
I got access to PHP Fog yesterday, and I gotta say... I'm a little disappointed. The only real way to start up an application is through git and the control panel looks nothing like the screenshot on the front page (the application selection). On top of that, the smallest instance (the free one) is only free for six months before you're automatically reverted to the "micro" instance which will set you back $29/month. I'm really not very impressed. What are the prices for vps24/7? Maq
Thanks for the review. After skimming through their site I didn't really have a great feeling about them. They didn't even have pricing available...? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/229998-php-fog-any-good/#findComment-1185767 Share on other sites
mattal999
Thanks for the review. After skimming through their site I didn't really have a great feeling about them. They didn't even have pricing available...? When I signed up the website was still a landing page with a one field signup using your email - basically a private beta. At the time, I was under the impression that it was free, but as always there was a catch. The prices of the instances are only actually revealed once you've selected what type of application you want to create - a bit of a con if you ask me. Shame really - I was kind of hoping for a good PHP dedicated cloud host (free would be a big bonus)...
