Any Tips for Debugging with jQuery?

I'm coding since 4 months and am now learning jQuery, I'm already able to do cool effects, though debugging is not the same as in PHP where you simply get an error message and then you simply pin point the mistake in the code based on that.

I'm reading books on jQuery, though in those 2 books I read none of them went really into the topic of debugging.

I'd appreciate some tips and pointers on how to debug with jQuery properly, because till now I still don't know what the proper way is.

For some reason Firefox is set to Private Browsing out of the box, and I cannot even deactivate it. It's a fresh installation of the version 4. I had this problem before and I don't know why it occurs.

I'm saying this because Firebug will not work when Firefox is set to private browsing. I'll have to research a bit to find a solution.
